Mrs Katina Karamitsos commenced working in the glass trade in 1957 as a hand silverer and glass cutter for Leonard's Mirrors, Gertrude Street, Fitzroy.

Whittlesea Glass and Mirrors commenced in November 1972 as a family run business, in Thomastown. Whittlesea Glass and Mirrors moved to its present location in Epping in 1980.

The business grew quickly, and is now one of the major retail outlets for glass and associated products in the Northern Suburbs.
